With Diurnal closed, a small timer floats in a corner and the countdown sits in the menu bar.
More time
When a round ends, add 10 or 15 minutes, start the break, or skip it.

Does the timer keep going when I close Diurnal?
Yes. It keeps counting in the menu bar and in a small floating timer.
Can I tie a round to a task?
Yes. Pick the task before you start, and it stays in view while the round runs.
Do soundscapes need the internet?
Only the first time you play each one.
