Delete your Diurnal account

How to delete your Diurnal account and its data, from the Diurnal Android app or by email from any device, and what deleting removes.

You can delete your Diurnal account from the Diurnal app for Android, or by email from any device, with or without the app.

Deleting your account cannot be undone.

In the Android app

  1. Open Settings, then Account.
  2. Tap Delete account.
  3. In Delete your account?, tap Delete account.

Diurnal deletes the account and signs you out, and your phone's copy of your tasks is cleared. If deleting fails, Diurnal says so under the button; check your connection and try again.

By email

Email support@diurnal.in from the address you use for Diurnal and ask for your account to be deleted. This works from any device, including a Mac, where Diurnal has no delete button.

What is deleted

Everything that belongs to your account, on every device:

  • your tasks and their notes, your tags, projects and repeating tasks;
  • each task's history, and your settings;
  • your connected Google accounts and the calendar events Diurnal held for you;
  • the AI apps you connected, and the feedback messages and crash reports Diurnal stored;
  • your sign-ins, so every device signed in to the account signs out the next time it reaches Diurnal;
  • the account itself.

Diurnal also asks Google to remove its access to your Google Calendar. If Google can't be reached at that moment, your account is still deleted; you can remove Diurnal's access yourself in your Google Account's security settings.

What is kept

A few copies sit outside your account, so deleting it doesn't reach them:

  • Emails to support. Each feedback message and crash report was also emailed to Diurnal's support inbox, with your email address. Those emails stay until you ask for them to be deleted.
  • Usage statistics from the Mac app. If you used Diurnal on a Mac, the analytics service it uses holds which features were used, with your account's identifier, your name and your email address. They stay until you ask for them to be deleted. The Android app sends none.
  • Request counters. To stop too many requests in a row, Diurnal counts recent requests by your account or email address. Each counter expires on its own, at the latest 30 days after it started.
  • Server records. The service's own records of requests and errors can include your account's identifier or email address. They're kept for a limited time, then discarded.

To have the support emails and the usage statistics deleted too, email support@diurnal.in from the address you used for Diurnal.
