Google Calendar
Connect Google Calendar to Diurnal, see meetings beside your tasks, join calls, create and edit events, and what an AI app can see.
Google Calendar is optional and separate from signing in. Signing in with Google does not connect your calendar; you choose to, in Settings.
Connect a calendar
- Open Settings › Calendars and click Connect….
- Google opens in your browser. Choose the account and tick both calendar boxes.
- Back in Diurnal, pick which calendars to show.
More on accounts and visibility in Calendars settings. Each permission Diurnal asks Google for, and why, is on Data & permissions.
See your day
Your events appear on a timeline beside the pad and in Plan › Overview, with timed tasks drawn alongside. Weekly shows each day's meetings. Click Show the calendar sidebar to bring the timeline back if you hid it.
Join, edit and move events
Click an event to open it:
- Join Zoom, Join Google Meet or Join video call opens the call.
- Edit event changes the title, day, times or notes. Guests are never emailed about your edits.
- Delete event removes it, after you confirm.
- Open shows it in Google Calendar.
Drag an event on the timeline to move it; it snaps to 15 minutes and keeps its length.
You can only move or edit events you organise, or ones whose organiser lets guests change them, and only on calendars you can write to. Otherwise Diurnal explains why.
Create an event
Type /cal at the start of the capture bar, then the event: "/cal lunch with Sam friday 1pm for 45m". Without a length, an event lasts an hour. It needs at least a day or a time.
Reminders before meetings
Diurnal reminds you before each meeting, 10 minutes ahead by default. Change it in Notifications settings.
What a connected AI app sees
An AI app can only read events, never create, move or delete them, and only from the accounts you've switched on, up to a month at a time. If no calendar is connected, it's told so.
Disconnect
In Settings › Calendars, click ⋯ on the account, then Remove Account…. You can also revoke Diurnal's access in your Google Account settings.
