Diurnal on Android

Add a task from anywhere

Add a task on Android without opening Diurnal, from the Quick Settings tile, the Today widget, the share menu or the launcher icon.

To add a task without opening Diurnal, use any of the four ways in below. Each one opens the same New task card over whatever you're doing.

Write in the New task card

Type the task the way you'd say it. Diurnal reads a day, a time or a #tag as you type, as it does on the pad.

  • Tap Add to file it, or press ⏎ on a keyboard. A short note says where it landed.
  • Tap Cancel, or go back, to close it without adding anything.

A task with no day goes on your pad. To put it on today's plan, type "today", as in "call the bank today".

If you're signed out, the card opens Diurnal so you can sign in.

The Quick Settings tile

The tile reads Diurnal, with New task under it. Tap it to open the card. On a locked phone, Diurnal asks you to unlock first.

To add it, open Settings › Widget and Quick Settings and tap Add beside Capture tile. If your phone can't add it from there, Diurnal shows the steps: swipe down twice, tap the pencil, then drag Diurnal into your tiles.

The Today widget

The widget shows today's plan on your home screen.

  • Tap a task's ring to finish it. The widget has no Undo: to take it back, open Done in Write, touch and hold the task, and choose Mark as open.
  • Tap + to open the New task card.
  • Tap anywhere else to open Plan › Today.

To add it, open Settings › Widget and Quick Settings and tap Add beside Today widget. Or touch and hold your home screen, tap Widgets, then find Diurnal.

Share text to Diurnal

In any app, share some text and choose Diurnal. The text opens in the New task card, and nothing is added until you tap Add.

Launcher shortcuts

Touch and hold the Diurnal icon. New task opens the card, and Today opens Plan › Today.
