Settings
Focus
Set Pomodoro round and break lengths, chimes, background soundscapes and the floating timer in Diurnal.
These settings shape the Focus timer. They belong to this Mac.
Timer
- Focus: 15, 25 (the default) or 50 minutes, or Custom from 5 to 120 minutes.
- Short break: 5 (the default), 10 or 15 minutes.
- Long break, after the last round of a set: 15 (the default), 20, 30 or 45 minutes.
- Rounds in a set: 2 to 8; the default is 4.
Between rounds
- Start breaks automatically (on): counts down 10 seconds first, so you can add time instead.
- Start the next round automatically (on).
- Heads-up in the last minute (off): the time turns amber, with no sound.
- Chime when a round or break ends (on): it falls when focus ends and rises when a break does. Choose Bowl, Bell, Marimba or Soft (the default).
- Sounds for start, pause and stop (off).
- Sound volume: the chimes' own volume, so a quiet room never hides them.
Sounds
- During focus and During breaks: Silence, a built-in soundscape (Rainy café, Deep forest, By the fire, Seaside, Storm, Brown noise), or a mix you saved. A different sound for breaks tells your ears the break has started.
- Fade: 1, 1.5 (the default) or 2 seconds.
- Pause sounds with the timer (on).
- Stop when headphones disconnect (on), so rain never moves to your laptop's speakers.
- Quiet during calls (off): sounds and chimes hold while the microphone is in use.
Floating timer
- Show while a session is on (on) keeps a small timer on screen during a session.
- Position: Top right (the default), Top left, Bottom left, Bottom right or Bottom centre. You can also drag it; it remembers where.
