Settings
General
Diurnal's General settings, from the typeface and keyboard shortcuts to launch at login, auto-clean timing and updates.
Font
Typeface sets the face for all text in Diurnal: Crimson Pro (the default), Inter, SF Pro or New York. The change applies everywhere at once, with no restart.
Shortcuts
- Global shortcut opens Diurnal from anywhere. The default is ⇧⌘A.
- Voice capture lets you speak a task from anywhere. The default is ⇧⌘L. Tap it to start and tap again to file, or hold it while you talk and let go when you finish. See Voice capture.
To change a shortcut, click it, then press the new keys. Esc cancels and Reset puts the default back. A shortcut needs at least one of ⌘, ⌥, ⌃ or ⇧. If another app already uses the keys, Diurnal says so and keeps your old shortcut.
Startup
- Launch at login starts Diurnal quietly in the menu bar when you log in. If macOS asks you to approve it, click Open Login Items… and allow Diurnal there.
- Show in the Dock adds a Dock tile and a ⌘Tab entry as well as the menu bar item. It is off unless you turn it on.
Scratchpad
These two settings control auto-clean:
- Ask "Still working on this?" after: Never, or 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 or 14 days. The default is 1 day.
- Move unanswered tasks to next week after: Never, or 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 days. The default is 2 days. This row hides when asking is set to Never.
Changing either starts the count again from today.
Plan
Group All time by tags splits Plan's All time into one group per tag. A task with several tags sits under its first tag. It is off by default.
Updates
- Check automatically looks for a new version every day and asks before installing. It is on by default.
- Check Now looks straight away. You can also choose Check for Updates… from Diurnal's menu bar menu.
