Plan your days
Use Diurnal's Plan lens to place tasks on today and the coming week, see everything open, and drag tasks between days.
Writing never needs a plan. When you want one, press ⌘2 for the Plan lens. It has four sections: Overview, Weekly, All time and Projects.
Overview
Three columns, side by side:
- From the pad: tasks you wrote but haven't placed on a day. Drag one into today; the pad keeps it either way.
- Today, with a capture bar on top: type a task there and it lands on today. Overdue tasks sit here too.
- Your calendar for the day, if you connected one.
Press ⌘N from anywhere in Diurnal to jump to this capture bar.
Weekly
A row of columns you scroll sideways:
- Any day: work for this week that doesn't belong to a particular day.
- Then today and the six days after it. Each column shows how much open time the day has, your meetings, project deadlines and that day's tasks.
Click + Add at the foot of a column to add a task to that day. Drag a task to another column to move it; the words you wrote stay exactly as they are.
All time
Everything open, grouped by tag (with No tag last), plus Repeating for your recurring tasks. Hover a task and click Today or This week to place it. The Done chip at the bottom shows what you finished lately.
To turn tag grouping off, see Group All time by tags in General settings.
Projects
Your projects, soonest deadline first. See Projects.
Work with tasks
- Drag a task to a day, to Any day, to From the pad to unplan it, or to an All time group.
- Click a task to open its card and edit its title, notes, date, time, tags, project or repeat. ⏎ saves and closes; Esc closes.
- Right-click for Mark as, Move to, Project, History…, Copy Title, Copy Notes and Delete.
- With the keyboard: arrows move between tasks, e opens a card, ⌥↑ and ⌥↓ reorder, ⌫ deletes, and ⌘Z undoes a delete or move while its message shows.
